About HT’s (Hollow Trees / Lance’s Right)
HT's, julukan untuk Hollow Trees, adalah right yang tubular dan sempurna yang terletak di pantai barat daya pulau Sipora, di Mentawai. Nama aslinya berasal dari pohon berlubang yang dulunya berdiri di samping terumbu, dan meskipun sekarang sudah tidak ada, nama itu tetap melekat. Ombak ini pecah di atas terumbu yang sangat terdefinisi dan tajam, menghasilkan take-off yang kritis diikuti oleh barrel yang dalam dan bersih yang terbentuk seperti mesin. Ini ideal untuk peselancar berpengalaman dan fotografer barrel, karena jarang mengecewakan ketika ada ukuran.
Local knowledge
Terumbu di sini dangkal, tajam, dan sangat hidup — bagian dalam di atas "Surgeon's Table" terkenal karena melukai peselancar, jadi harapkan luka karang dan bawa perlengkapan pertolongan pertama yang baik. Take-off sangat kritis dan tidak memaafkan; terjebak di dalam atau jatuh di atas ombak berarti pukulan di terumbu yang agak kering. This remote archipelago of more than 70 islands sits off the west coast of Sumatra, fully exposed to raw Indian Ocean swell, and it has earned its reputation as one of the most concentrated, high-quality wave zones on Earth.
✈️Getting there
All routes run through Padang, the port city in West Sumatra. Fly into Padang's Minangkabau International Airport (PDG), usually via Jakarta, or via Kuala Lumpur or Singapore on regional carriers.
🛵Getting around
The Mentawai are about boats, not roads. Once you arrive, your daily transport to the waves is by boat — either the liveaboard itself or the resort's tenders and speedboats running surfers out to the breaks.
🌤️Climate & season
The Mentawai are equatorial, hot and humid year-round, with water warm enough for boardshorts or a thin top (roughly 27–29°C). There's no real winter — just wetter and drier patterns.
