About Gerupuk
Gerupuk ist eine große Bucht östlich von Kuta Lombok, berühmt für ihre fünf verschiedenen Peaks, die nur mit dem Boot erreichbar sind. Dieser Ort bietet das ganze Jahr über Wellen, gute lokale Infrastruktur und eine authentische Surfer-Atmosphäre, ideal für Anfänger und fortgeschrittene Surfer, die nach Konsistenz und einfachem Zugang suchen. Von der Küste aus werden täglich Bootsausflüge zu den verschiedenen Wellen organisiert, die in Größe, Kraft und Schwierigkeit variieren. Es ist ein perfekter Trainingsplatz, um die Technik zu verbessern, das Meer zu lesen und zu surfen, ohne sich um die Menge oder ein gefährliches Riff sorgen zu müssen.
Local knowledge
Die meisten Peaks in Gerupuk brechen über Riff, sind aber im Allgemeinen nachsichtiger als die schweren Slabs weiter westlich — die Hauptsorgen sind flaches lebendes Korallenriff und Seeigel bei Ebbe (insbesondere im Inneren bei Kids Point/Inside und über dem felsigen Grund bei Don-Don), daher sind Booties ratsam. Die Bucht sieht viel Bootverkehr, der Surfer und strömungsgetriebene Strömungen befördert, die dich in Richtung des Kanals ziehen können, also sei dir der Taxi-Boote bewusst, die in der Lineup sitzen. Outside Right (Outside Gerupuk) bekommt mehr Kraft und einen schnelleren Drop, wenn der Swell hoch ist, was dazu führt, dass Intermediate-Surfer im Inneren gefangen werden.
Fahre zum Dorf Gerupuk östlich von Kuta Lombok, parke in der Nähe der Waterfront-Warungs und Fischerboote und verhandle einen Bootstaxi von der Küste — alle fünf Peaks sind nur mit dem Boot erreichbar und die Fahrt hinaus dauert 5-15 Minuten, je nach Welle. Vereinbare eine Abholzeit mit deinem Bootsmann und benutze das Boot, um in die Lineup ein- und auszutreten, anstatt den langen, strömungsanfälligen Kanal zu paddeln. Es gibt viele Warungs, Surfschulen und Boardverleih am Strand, sodass es ein einfacher Logistik-Tag ist.
Bring dein alltägliches Shortboard für die kräftigeren Tage bei Outside Right mit; an den kleineren, dickeren inneren Peaks wie Kids Point hält dich ein Fish oder Groveler in Bewegung. Steige um einen halben Fuß auf, wenn ein echter Swell draußen eintrifft, aber an den meisten Tagen ist ein Allrounder ausreichend.

✈️Getting there
Fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), near Praya in the centre-south of the island — a short 30–45 minute drive from Kuta Lombok and the main surf zone. There are frequent domestic connections from Jakarta, Surabaya and especially Bali (Denpasar), plus some regional international links.
🛵Getting around
A scooter is the default way to explore Lombok's surf coast — cheap to rent in Kuta and ideal for the dirt tracks leading to Mawi, Are Guling and the quieter bays. Bring board racks or a strap, and ride cautiously: roads range from smooth tarmac to potholed dirt, and rural traffic can be unpredictable.
